Primary Function

Responsibilities include developing, training of, and reassessing the plants HACCP and SSOP Programs. In addition, they must demonstrate an understanding of QA functions to adequately cover and assist the QA Supervisors. As time permits, they will assist the QA, Operations, & Shift Managers on special projects.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks

HACCP:

1. Development and reassessment of the HACCP Program. This will be performed by the HACCP team, which may include QA Mg, Operations Mgr, Shift Mgr, Sanitation Mgr, Maint. Mgr, QA Supv, & HACCP Coord. HACCP Coord are responsible for performing any revisions necessary & the accuracy of the HACCP Plan, Flow Charts, Hazard Analysis/Risk Assessment, Mgmt Structure, Product Description, & HACCP forms. Also resp for revisions made to plants SSOP Plan & forms.

2. Training plant personnel of the requirements of HACCP & related programs (SSOP, Foreign Material, etc). Ensure that annual HACCP training takes place. Perform additional training as needed.

3. Daily monitoring of HACCP programs/procedures & any other HACCP supporting programs/procedures. This will include observation of HACCP monitors & verifiers performing HACCP duties & HACCP documentation, review of HACCP records, review of thermometer calibration forms.

4. Perform any QA, Food Safety, Corp, Admin procedure verification or validation as required by the procedure.

5. Review of the HACCP paperwork to ensure all paperwork is complete & accurate. Periodically review paperwork throughout the shift & perform end of shift review.

6. Complete corrective action form for HACCP related deviations. Ensure corrective actions are completed accurately and all supporting documentation is attached to corrective action and accurate. Review and monitor all deviations to aid in corrective action decision making, product disposition, additional training required.

7. HACCP Coordinator will retrieve all Noncompliance Records that are generated from the USDA office. Complete all plant reports associated with NR’s, such as Weekly NR Report, lists of all NR’s received each year, etc.

 

QA:

1. Understanding of all QA functions, including adherence to product specifications, GMP’s, HACCP requirements, completion and accuracy of Quality Assurance records, SSOP documentation as well as other nonspecific documentation requirements.

2. Must be able to adequately cover & assist the QA Supervisor.




Minimum Skill Levels and Work Experience

1. BS or equivalent technical experience, or

2. Technical knowledge of the poultry industry or related field preferred.

3. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written and the ability to do so at all different levels.

4. Ability to plan, organize, effectively direct, assign, and review the activities and duties of the Quality Assurance technicians.

5. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and ability.

6. Analytical abilities.

7. Computer skills, experience in SPC and HACCP very beneficial.

 

Physical Demands:

1. Walk in and on the outside of the facility continuously.

2. Must be able to withstand hot and cold temperatures and wet environments

3. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, stand and walk for long periods of time.

4. Varied work schedule.
