Plans and conducts sensory panel evaluations on products, raw materials and in-process materials per MillerCoors quality system requirements. Interprets, evaluates, and reports the analyses in terms of accuracy and precision. Manages the recruitment, training and validation of taste panelists. Performs a variety of sensory methods including qualitative tests, difference tests and descriptive tests for monitoring and ensuring the quality of MillerCoors products. Links sensory results with a basic understanding of brewing and packaging. Partners with quality specialists and process leaders to enable and drive continuous and focused improvement to reduce variability in each process area as related to the flavor of in-process or package product.


Is responsible for adhering to all rules, regulations, policies, programs and related MillerCoors Quality Management System including SQF, HACCP and GMP to ensure safety and quality of MillerCoors products.

Education Level and/or Experience:


  • BS or BA in a science related field of study (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cereal Science, Microbiology, Food Science, Agronomy, Chemical Engineering preferred) or extensive sensory/brewing experience
  • Advanced degree or certificate in sensory, brewing or quality related processes (e.g. IBD, CQE, UC Davis Sensory & Consumer Science Certificate Program)
  • Two (2) or more years experience in quality related processes or science experience in a food processing or beverage facility with sensory analysis experience
  • Demonstrated use of advanced problem solving tools

Skills and/or Knowledge


  • Broad knowledge of the principles and techniques of sensory evaluation of beverages and foods as they apply to brewing or related fields
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical methods and computers
  • Ability to conduct panelist training and performance evaluation procedures
  • Ability to moderate focus groups/round table evaluations
  • Understanding of the brewing process preferred
  • Knowledge of beer fla vor and off flavor development a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of quality systems
  • Advanced knowledge of continuous improvement concepts
  • Knowledge transfer and technical training skills across all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated basic leadership skills; leads and owns testing programs
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills

Other Requirements:


  • Ability and willingness to work a rotating shift operation, weekends and holidays as necessary to support production requirements
  • Must exhibit the flexibility needed to respond to frequent changes in production requirements
