Job Description


Casey's General Stores Corporate Headquarters in Ankeny, IA, is seeking a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist to provide support and guidance in the areas of food safety, training, regulatory compliance, recordkeeping, good manufacturing practices, and sanitation. This individual will work in collaboration with internal teams and external resources, to assist in the development, evaluation and implementation of food safety policies, administrative controls, engineering controls, procedures, standards and manuals in the continued effort to strengthen food safety. The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist will actively participate with food safety and regulatory associations on behalf of the Company and will perform assessments to ensure compliance the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). This position is also responsible for overseeing the food safety training program for the Company, including assisting the Store Operations Training Department in developing and implementing employee safety training programs in areas related to risk management.

Casey's Risk Management Department is seeking an individual with approximately five years of experience working in food safety, restaurant health inspection or food service audit in a restaurant environment. Knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure), FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and other applicable state and local health and food safety codes and principles behind these requirements is necessary. Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Environmental Health, Food Science, Biology/Microbiology, food safety or related course of study or equivalent experience in a related position, is preferred. Qualified individuals will possess the ability to work with cross-functional teams and drive solutions. Excellent business communication and problem solving skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet established deadlines, is necessary.

Travel within Casey's 15 Midwest state territory will be required approximately 20% of the time. A valid driver's license with the ability to drive to field locations is required. Work will be performed in various settings including office, warehouse (including cooler and freezer environment), and store locations. Job duties will require the ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop as well as frequently lift products weighing up to 25 pounds, within the previous listed settings.
