Account Representative for Food Safety - 3M - Hartford, CT



3M is seeking an Account Representative for 3M Food Safety, for the North East territory, located in Hartford, CT.  Ready to be part of what’s next?   

Job Summary: 
The person hired for the position of Account Representative will ideally be based in the Hartford, CT area and will cover Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Eastern New York State and South East Pennsylvania.   The candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following specific duties:

·         Represent and sell Food Safety testing solutions to the and lab supplies to the food and beverage industry

·         Performing effective customer segmentation and targeting at a territory level

·         Delivering on forecast and growth expectations

·         Organizing and leading local product & solution sales seminars

·         Performing effective product solution demonstrations

·         Manage all business activities and customer requests within the territory

·         Representing customer needs concerning ongoing product development and marketing program development

·         Participating as needed in local and regional trade shows

·         Requires approximately 75% travel with up to 50% overnight stays

 Basic Qualifications:

·         Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited University is required

·         Minimum of three (3) years of sales experience in the technical and/or food industry is required

·         Minimum of one (1)  year of direct B2B sales experience is required

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry or science degree is preferred

·         Microbiology experience applicable to the Food Safety industry is desired

·         Two (2) years of direct B2B sales experience

·         Two (2) years of sales experience in the technical and/or food and beverage industry

·         Pathogen testing products background

·         Laboratory sales experience is preferred

·         Experience working cross-functionally within a team environment is preferred

·         Critical thinking, problem solving skills and a strong technical aptitude

·         Successful history of time and territory management

·         Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software programs

·         Experience using Sales or other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software

·         Strong interpersonal skills and a professional presence

·         Experience with "Solution Selling" methodology

Location: Hartford, CT
Sales Territory: Will be responsible for the North East Territory; including Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Eastern New York State and South East Pennsylvania
Travel: May include up to 75% domestic within the territory is anticipated
Relocation: Is not authorized
