Overview

C&S Wholesale Grocers is the largest wholesale grocer/distributor in the nation. The Quality Control Inspector will ensure that all perishable quality and food safety specifications are adhered to. This encompasses both C&Ss procurement specifications and government regulations at the warehouse and customer level.

Responsibilities

* Maintain quality procedures for receiving perishables at C&S operated distribution centers.
* Inspect all inbound perishables to ensure that all suppliers shipping to C&S, comply with product quality specifications and related food safety regulations.
* Insure that proper quantity, variety, weights, labels, and sizes are received as ordered.
* Monitor warehouse activities that may affect product quality and safety to include ensuring that pallet receipt date tags are routinely checked by DC receivers (insure proper flow of paperwork, i.e. logging seals, count discrepancies, checking truck list, etc.).
* Audit receiving, storage, and shipping practices and advise responsible parties of weaknesses or concerns.
* Audit inventory levels and rotation to assure that products meet company freshness and quality standards.
* Generate daily perishable inspection report indicating mis-rotations, mis-slotting, poor quality product, inventory problems, close dated or out dated product, ambient temperature problems and icing of product.
* Full knowledge of the proper use of inspection equipment.
* Ability to accurately report information regarding grade and condition of product. 
* Communicate with National Buyers, QC Manager, and Turn Buyers, issues or concerns and help to devise resolution.
* Generate quality reports via company inspection program.
* Improve the level of quality across the entire supply chain.
* Perform any other duties as assigned by the QC Manager.

Qualifications

* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Must have basic computer skills. 
* 2 years perishable retail or wholesale experience.
* Competent knowledge of all USDA standards for meat and produce, PACA regulations, State DEC, HACCP standards for seafood  and customer specifications.
* USDA produce certification, HACCP certification
