ROLE
 As a Hampton Creek Food Science Research Associate you will perform experiments to understand the functional properties of plant proteins and other plant-based molecules in food applications. The ideal candidate will be creative, driven, willing to roll up his or her sleeves, and excited to join a fast-paced startup.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute experiments, data collection and analysis, sample preparation and other project related tasks Implement, validate, and optimize experimental approaches Develop standardized protocols Maintain detailed and accurate record of lab work
Prepare and present technical reports and summaries Keeping current on new research methods and equipment through trade journals, professional meetings, food shows and meetings with technical representatives Collaborate with a cross functional team of culinary chefs, food scientists, and data scientists.

ATTRIBUTES
MS or BS in Food Science, Food Engineering, Food Technology, Food Chemistry, Material Science, Biophysics, or closely related field who are interested in applying their field to food innovation Academic or industry research experience in one of the above fields
Exposure to a wide variety of laboratory and food processing equipment Ability to handle complex assignments on aggressive timing
Ability to learn new research techniques and processes quickly
Display exceptional competence over a sustained period as evidenced by specific technical accomplishments Self-motivated by problem solving and inherent curiosity to understand how things work
Highly organized, self-starter able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, adapt well to change and able to prioritize multiple projects
Exhibit leadership and proactive attitudes in approaching solutions to research issues Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication Proficiency with computer systems Creative thinking and a passion for food
