QA Manager
T.H.E.M. of New Jersey - Marlton, NJ





This position is responsible for assuring consistent quality of production by enforcing on-going Quality Assurance & Safe Quality Food programs to ensure meeting brand quality standards for cGMP and SQF certification, and all applicable food safety and quality regulatory compliance. The position will interface with cross-functional teams, external service providers, and government agencies as the product safety, quality systems and regulatory liaison in implementing all QA & SQF initiatives and operating practices. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.

Quality Assurance

  • Responsible for maintaining a QA system that assures safety and quality of food product and packaging materials
  • Manages the processing of QA information for customer to include approval, rejection and or resolving quality issues relating to product/packaging/receipt and shipment
  • Provides day-to-day direction and support to the quality assurance function, in-process inspection and periodic auditing of the quality system
  • Reviews and verifies completed production batch records and associated documents and ensures that the finished product meets FDA requirements and customer specifications prior to the release of product
  • Ensures the maintenance of quality records, champions process improvement and maintains, improves and trains to ensure compliance of all GMP requirements
  • Responsible for employee training and daily enforcement of all T.H.E.M. SOPs, GMPs, and batch and control documentation
  • Responsible for the implementation of QA Manuals, use of forms and clear direction on how to handle deviations or unusual situations

Safe Quality Food

  • Maintain, direct, control and ensure the SQF Level 2 Program rules and activities related to the SQF program are rigorously followed
  • Ensure follow-up of non-conformities of the SQF Level 2 Program by developing and putting in place realistic action plans
  • Performs daily monitoring activities on SQF programs including: Verification and Recordkeeping to ensure facility’s continuous compliance with SQF Level 2 requirements
  • Ensures all company food safety and quality policies, procedures, training manuals, logs, documentations, COAs, product specification sheets, and records are up to date in meeting regulatory and SQF Certification requirements


  • Manage and maintain HACCP
  • Experience implementing and maintaining HACCP plans


  • Manage and participate in customer or supplier visits/audits
  • Establish, communicate and enforce acceptable standards of performance and behavior within the QA team
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed


  • Bachelor of Science in quality Assurance, Food Safety, Microbiology, Food Science, or related field
  • SQF practitioner certification
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience with food manufacturing operations and QA programs, preferably working in a food processing facility certified by SQF or other recognized program
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of food safety, food microbiology, food processing technology, safe food handling, sanitation practices, GMP and HACCP principles.
  • Knowledge of pest control and sanitation within a food manufacturing environment
  • In-depth understanding and experience with FDA and other relevant government agencies’ food safety regulations
  • Must have excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Energetic, flexible and have ability to work alone and in a team environment.
