Job Description

We are currently seeking a Food Technologist to join our Beverage Applications team.  The incumbent shall be responsible for taking ownership of projects that demonstrate our flavors in high quality commercially scalable flavor applications in beverage applications; developing new product formula, applying flavors to a base; producing prototypes in the lab and pilot plant.

The candidate must possess a solid understanding of product development, as well as packaging, regulatory guidelines, cost parameters, processes and equipment, along with other specifications outlined in customer briefs

The primary function of this job is to assist the Beverage Technologist in the development of flavor application vehicles for beverages and to test and present quality products that are cost effective, profitable, unique and make our customerís products better. The incumbent will be responsible for the screening and testing of flavors in appropriate beverage bases, formulating recipes, providing documentation, sensory testing and shall assist with Sales Team and Flavorists on projects to meet customerís requirements.  The incumbent also must be capable of tasting products in sugar solutions and have no known food allergies.  Preferred Degree in Food Science or related field.

 

Required Skills

Bachelorís Degree in Food Science or related field along with 5 to 7 of food technology experience in the food or flavor industry.

     Demonstrated ability to use physical senses to evaluate quality of full variety of flavors and products.

     Demonstrate the application of basic math concepts including %, to perform formulation calculations.

     Possess proficient computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook

     Possess demonstrated working knowledge of SSOPs, HACCP and GMP/GLPís

     Must not possess any known food allergies and be able to taste products with potato, simple syrup, salt, nuts, lexol (fat replacement) solutions, beef, poultry, and dairy products

     Ability to work independently and with beverage team to successfully complete customer projects on time.

     Work closely with other functions, marketing, SCI and analytical for proactive and reactive projects.

     Interact successfully with key customers developing technical to technical relationships. 

     Knowledge of beverage processes and processing equipment.

     Anticipate, investigate and resolve problems with raw materials, flavor systems and finished prototypes.

     Participate directly and provide cross-functional leadership in strategic category and platform initiatives to build flavor system capabilities, execute training programs and Bank flavor offerings.  

     Develop and execute training & guidance to more junior staff to increase their competence and value.

     Develop application skills to address changing food product trends and processing techniques. 

     Safe work practices.

Required Experience
