Job Description: Under the Supervision of the VP of Operations the
Food Scientist will utilize their knowledge and experience to develop new
products, match extant products and advise on the manufacturing processes
and sourcing of ingredients pertaining to development projects. Duties and Responsibilities
Bench top development of new
products based on customer needs including product matching, new
formulations, product optimization and clean label development
. * Bench top evaluation of blends will include
tasting and may include basic cooking skills. Culinary skills are a plus.
Blend, package and ship bench
top samples for customer evaluation
. * Document shipped samples in sample log.
Source new ingredients and
research current information for projects as needed.
Develop documentation for
products as required in concert with the Food Safety Manager,
including but not limited to:
Ingredient statements that
meet FDA regulatory requirements and deliver a clean label impression
Specifications per customer
and company requirements.
Nutritional Facts panels
using Genesis R&D program.
Maintenance and organization
of product development files.
BS in Food Science or related field
. * A working knowledge of Sensory Testing
Moderate knowledge of GMP,
HACCP and GFSI programs
Moderate knowledge of FDA
Moderate knowledge of Organic
Certification, Kosher Certification, Non GMO.
Must work well independently
and in collaboration with other team members and customers.
Creative and enjoys the
exploration of new foods and flavors.
Excellent math skills.
Proficient in Microsoft
Clear, concise written and
Pro-active and a
self-starter, willing to accept responsibility for departmental tasks
