Job Description

Essential Functions of Role: This is a ‘hands on’ managerial role.

• Meet USDA, HIMP, HACCP, GMP and Company standards and under the supervision of the Director of Technical Services, assist with overseeing the leadership and management of the processes and associates to meet the needs and expectations of customers, department and organization. • Oversee development, implementation, maintenance and internal auditing of HACCP, HIMP, SSOP, SOP, BRC programs, ensuring programs meet regulatory requirements and customer expectations. • Ensure necessary corrective actions, preventive measures and root cause analysis are completed and documented for program deviations and customer complaints. • Oversee labeling functions for both the Chicago Drive and Hall Street facilities and ensure all regulatory requirements are met. • Oversee training and education functions for the various required programs and plant SOP’s, including scheduling and documentation. • Supervise the QA Special Projects Coordinator, Lab Chemist and Internal Auditor positions • Provide coverage for Quality Assurance Managers during absences / PTO. • Assist in completing payroll functions for direct reports as well as when providing coverage for Quality Assurance Managers. • Conduct meetings with associates on changes and other jobs related issues • Ensure that associates are informed and follow the rules, policies and procedures for USDA, OSHA and MIOSHA, as well as MTP’s GMP and Safety Policies • Teach associates the importance of working safe and in a team environment • Ensure all SSOP and Quality Programs are being followed correctly and being completed • Establish and maintain good working relationship with USDA • Provide a resource to operations and sanitation personnel • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Animal Science or related field is required for this position. A Masters Degree in Food Safety, Food Science or related field is preferred. • HACCP Certification is required for this position • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook. • Must have proven leadership skills • Must be able to motivate others, initiate change and perform with integrity • Must be able to problem solve and assist with resolution • Must be able to work with little to no daily supervision • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions • Must possess a strong work ethic • Must be able to give direction and take action to ensure enforcement of policies as needed • Must be able to implement all rules and procedures established by the SSOP and HACCP programs and must be able to work very closely with USDA • Must maintain excellent attendance • Must be detail oriented • Must be able to speak, write and understand English • Must be able to work safely • Must be able to work in a team environment • Must be able to wear all necessary Personal Protective Wear required while performing role: o Protective eye wear o Ear plugs o Hard hat/bump cap o Hair net o White coat (clothing protection) o Gloves (plastic/cotton) o Plastic apron o And all other required PPE’s
