Job Summary

Primary responsibilities will include developing an extramurally funded and nationally recognized Food Science research program. The University of Kentucky’s Food Science program has a strong history of research productivity supported by nationally competitive grants from both the federal government and the food industry. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong potential to contribute to the continued success and enhancement of Food Science research. The successful candidate must also demonstrate the ability to fulfill the Food Science programs commitment to preparing students via classroom and laboratory instruction in courses that cover all prevalent areas of food processing. Participation with other faculty in further strengthening the IFT-accredited food science program is a key component of this position. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate level food science courses and advising undergraduate students. The area of Food Systems has been designated as a Target of Opportunity by the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with the University of Kentucky’s Food Systems Innovation Center to provide applied research solutions and technical services to Kentucky’s food businesses. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Excellent oral and written English communication skills; enthusiasm for teaching and advising food science students; strong commitment to food science student recruitment and food science club activities; demonstrated record or potential for obtaining nationally competitive extramural grant funding and publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The ability to work in collaborative environments with other research faculty, commercial producers, and public, private and governmental agencies is important.
