The Opportunity

Manage all elements of the QA function for the  Salt Lake City operation & associated offsite warehouse. Incumbent is responsible for directing the QA team to deliver required QA objectives and work in partnership with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, HR and R&D to help manage any broad business objectives. The incumbent must be able to ensure that all Nellson Nutraceutical QA policies and procedures are upheld and be able to appraise and develop the site team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance to dietary supplement cGMP regulations
  • Lead and manage the facility Quality Assurance Department and personnel
  • Initiate, direct, control and report on quality assurance plans and projects assigned in a timely manner
  • Lead the facility's Food Safety Program, including the HACCP teams and SQF certification process
  • Control the Quality Assurance Department budget in accordance with Nellson corporate objectives
  • Ensure that all Quality Assurance Supervisors and Quality Control Technicians are fully trained and that all policies and procedures are in place
  • Coordinate physical, microbiological, and analytical testing and reporting of results for finished goods and the environmental monitoring program
  • Assist Production Management in the investigation of quality complaints and root cause analysis
  • Coordinate with Product Management, Research and Development and Manufacturing on the generation and update of product and process specifications
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing on ensuring compliance with GMPs
  • Facilitate customer and third party audits
  • Other duties deemed appropriate by the Director of Quality Assurance 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Five or more years of experience in food manufacturing quality control/assurance management
  • HACCP training certificate in the last five years
  • Experience implementing a GFSI standard and ability to obtain SQF Practitioner certificate
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations and GMPs, 21 CFR 110 and 111
  • Knowledge of SPC
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Good organization and management skills
  • Proven leadership development experience with a focus on performance and behavioral issues.
