Junior R&D Scientist - Davisco Corporate - Le Sueur, MN


Job Description

 

Essential Functions include the following:

    Performs sample preparation and testing using advanced analytical techniques including HPLC, AAS and GC.

    Assigned to analytical and applied R&D projects as directed.

    Supports other company laboratories by conducting routine analytical testing for product release, as directed by Analytical Scientist.

    Records, collates, evaluates, and interprets experimental data and converts into relevant reports with appropriate recommendations and conclusions.

    Ability to work in close proximity to and share work space with others.

    Ability to work with and without supervision.

    Well organized and motivated.

    Ability to work well under stress and deadline.

    Good work ethic and positive attitude.

    Ability to read and follow instructions; excellent attention to detail.

    Ability to work quickly and efficiently, while maintaining accuracy.

    Ability to cope with change in an unstructured environment.

    Demonstrate good cooperation with production personnel and schedules.

 

Technical Competencies:

    Knowledge and application of Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Lab Practices.

    Proficient in math and basic algebra.

    Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word or the like.

   

Qualifications

    B.S.in Food Science, Analytical Chemistry, Engineering or the equivalent in experience.

    Familiar with analytical instrumentation including HPLC, GC and AAS

    Ability to pay strong attention to detail.  Multi-task effectively.

    Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

    Effective spelling, grammar and written communication skills.

    Effective oral communication skills.

    Ability to work well in a team.

 

Work Conditions:

    Be able to work in a manufacturing and/or lab environment with equipment and raw ingredients.

    Be able to work outside of standard business hours in order to accommodate research activities.

    Ability to work effectively and appropriately in manufacturing and/or laboratory with the following conditions:  Strong odors, chemicals, reagents, product dust.

    Be able to move up and down stairs.
