Cargill Meat Solutions Shared Services has an exciting opportunity available for a Food Safety Analyst. This role is responsible for applying microbiological concepts to actual plant and product situations within the meat/food industry. This is an office based position that will evaluate microbial trends and create intervention strategies across multiple facilities to improve food safety. Additionally, the successful candidate will utilize microbiological and related data to not only identify and troubleshoot but to also predict opportunities that will allow for actions to be taken to mitigate the potential risk identified.
Principal Accountabilities :
40% Utilize multiple sources of complex microbiological and process data to identify trends, associations, direct and indirect correlations, and / or independent variables that can be converted from lagging indicators to predictive indicators such that actions can be taken to minimize the potential for issues occurring, or to mitigate the impact when issues do occur.
15% Assist facilities with troubleshooting of microbiological process and / or product issues.
15% To enable better analysis, identify gaps in the data being collected and / or the structure of the data being collected. Assist in the design and implementation of new / improved templates, audits, inspections etc, that will close the gaps and / or improve the structure.
15% Prepare reports, summaries and / or presentations to communicate findings to various levels of stakeholders
15% Identify and communicate potential actions to the findings that may help mitigate issues that are identified
Location: The preferred location for this role is Wichita, KS although a home office arrangement would be considered.

∑ Bachelorís degree in a science field with experience with microbiology
∑ 2+ years of experience within the food industry within a technical capacity
∑ Experience with microbiological data and applying it in a food/feed/beverage plant setting
∑ Analytical, curious, ability to learn beyond expertise, uses step by step logic
∑ Ability to influence others
∑ MS in Microbiology or similar biological degree
∑ 2+ years of experience within the meat industry within a plant level technical capacity
∑ Basic understanding of biostatistics
∑ Experience with Minitab, SPSS, or SAS Statistical Software
∑ Strong conceptual thinker, can see beyond just the obvious, ability to understand the various functions of the industry, good technical writer / communicator, process oriented, strategic understanding
