Position Purpose:


Under limited supervision, this position will focus on the development of new products and will require an innovative approach to product development.  Individuals that are applying for this position need to have an understanding of general business propositions and key economic drivers of research projects. This position will be responsible for the creation of both bench top and scale-up production of samples for internal, customer, and consumer tests. Responsibilities include formulation, pilot plant testing, scale-up support, sensory/nutritional/label support and documentation of experiments. This position will support a wide range of project activities including new products, line extensions, and product improvements all pertaining to Cargill Kitchen Solutions and our customers.


The successful candidate will have a passion for product development, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and experiments.     This position requires great interpersonal skills and self-initiative. The position will require occasional travel.


Principal Accountabilities:

        70%†† Product/Formula development (experimental design) of value added egg products

        10%†† Coordinate and prepare product evaluation(s) for senior leaders 

        10%†† Develop and maintain the nutritional database for our existing and new products

        5% Coordinate and support product sensory panels 

        5% Interact with our customers during tours, product evaluations, and meetings.

Relocation assistance will not be provided. 



Required Qualifications

        Bachelorís degree in food science or related field

        2+ years in R&D, Operations, or Quality food industry experience

        Background in scientific procedures and project management skills

        Basic data analysis and design of experiment knowledge

        Good oral and written communication and presentation skills

        Basic understanding of IP

        This position shall have the responsibility to report problems with the food safety management system to identified person(s).  This position has the responsibility and authority to initiate and record actions. 

        Ability to travel

        Ability to lift 50 lbs 


Preferred Qualifications

        5+ years in R&D, Operations, or Quality food industry experience

        Sensory experience

        Master's degree in food science or related field
