We are currently seeking to hire Food Science
Technicians for 1st and 3rd shift.
A Food Quality Technician monitors our production
lines, assists in startups and verifies a correct bulk fill, packaging,
label, weight, code and condition of final product. This position makes
certain all defective products are contained and that errors are caught
quickly and immediately corrected.
- Monitoring of production
activities per the direction of the Production Manager, Quality
Manager and Operations Manager in observing and enforcing all SQF
guidelines, all Plant policies and procedures, all Plant Quality and
Sanitation guidelines, all Plant Safety guidelines, and all Plant GMP
- Hourly line checks on all
production lines to verify and sign off on CCP’s, check all line
activities for proper bulk fill, proper labels, case codes, packaging,
and quality of finished product packages. Assist line operators in
checking and verifying all startups of new products on the line.
Assist line operators with decision to reject bulk materials that does
not meet specifications.
- Verify and sign off on metal
detectors, check weighers and scales on all
lines being in operation and set up and correctly working. Correct
- Oversee sanitation on shift to
help supervise and coordinate with them to conduct verification
swabbing after any line cleans. Verify no cross contamination
involving allergens and make certain this is documented.
- Review daily production records
for each line throughout the shift to verify accuracy and assure
completeness. Work with Production Supervisor to notify of any
problems and verify corrections. Notify Quality Manager of all issues
encountered on shift.
- Conduct bacteriological and
environmental swabbing of equipment, and product sampling for
- Review daily retention samples
for packaging and code dating, and insuring the samples are moved to
the retention area. Obtain samples from production, warehouse, as
- Report all Food Safety and Food
Quality issues immediately. Place holds when needed.
- Timely, Accurate, and Efficient
completion of all required paperwork documentation.
- Observe all safety rules,
precautions, and practices to ensure the safety of self and others.
- Observe, recognize, and report,
immediately to Supervision, any Site Security or Bio-terrorism issues.
Skill and Education Requirements:
- Minimum 2
year degree in a science related field
- 3+ years’ quality experience in
- Proficiency with Microsoft
office software; word, excel and Outlook email.
- Ability to completely and
legibly complete required paperwork.
- Knowledge of food safety
programs such as HACCP, SQF, GMP
- Good communication skills and
good people skills to work with line operators and production
supervisors to get problems fixed efficiently.
- Ability to recognize food
safety and quality issues and get corrected.
- Good problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently
on projects, and report results to supervision
