The Test Kitchen Professional, Time Inc. will work with the Southern
Living team to create meaningful recipe content for a signature Southern
lifestyle brand with an audience of more than 14 million. This is a key
role for a creative self-starter excited to join a brand with massive
reach and a strong, dedicated following.
- Source ingredients, prepare
food, test and repeat
- Pitch stories, recipe
lineups, and food content to editors; working with them to develop
and package story elements – both for the magazine, online and
across social and video
- Write thoughtful how-tos, recipe head notes and captions to enhance
reader service and clarity of recipe technique and general cooking
- Represent Southern Living
at industry events, plus reader outreach programs and community
- Experienced: You have a BS or BA, a
culinary degree, or extensive professional experience, plus a food
science or sensory background. Baking experience is a plus.
- Connected: You have a history
of getting to know your audience deeply – their taste, aesthetic and
cooking habits – and a record of staying true to that audience. You
know when to push comfort zones and when to stay true to tradition.
- A lifelong
learner: The only kind of world that scares you is one where you
can’t keep growing. You’re a stellar cook who thinks like an
entrepreneur; it’s in your DNA to try new things, learn new skills,
and grow in your career.
- Collaborative: You’re
energized by collaborative environments and have teaching experience
– officially, or unofficially by leading teams. People respond to
your open, communicative style and your genuine interest in the
world around you.
