General Position Information:
This position will involve traveling to our customer store and corporate locations. In this role, you will drive food safety and quality results across assigned accounts through successful training, implementation, and monitoring of validated food safety and sanitation systems and processes. Provide food safety leadership to Chemstar Program Mangers, Regional Service Mangers and Food Safety Specialist. Act as an interface between Chemstar’s Food Safety Department and Customer’s Quality Assurance Department and serve as primary functional contact with select customers on food safety and quality matters.

Responsibilities:
The Food Safety Manger (FSM) is responsible for making sure that our retail customers’ food safety sanitation program is in compliance with current regulatory requirements. The FSM will also need to understand the customer’s current food safety metrics and will need to ensure that our food safety sanitation program helps the customer meet or exceed those goals. The FSM will contribute to the development of food safety policies, perform in store sanitation validations, and analyze reports to determine compliance.

Primary Responsibilities:

The FSM will…..

  • Responsible for driving food safety and quality results in assigned accounts. Monitor key processes and data that drive food safety, process consistency, review food safety and quality metrics & key performance indicators, identify gaps and concerns and work with customer QA department to improve results
  • Collaborate with customers QA team and other parties as necessary to investigate and resolve customer food safety issues, evaluate root cause remediation and coordinate appropriate actions as well as communications
  • Train, educate, coach and mentor Chemstar personnel as well as our customer food safety partners in key food safety and quality processes and requirements
  • Support Operations in product/process redesigns through documented and systematic validation, monitoring, and verification processes

Maintain proficiency and keep current with changing policy through collaboration and training with industry, working with regulatory officials in your area of responsibility, and taking part in peer related conferences, committees, and speaking engagements.

General Qualifications:
The Food Safety Manager should possess . . .

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field of study,
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English),
  • CPFM, SuperSafe Mark, ServeSafe, or FSMCE and CP-FS Certified (Preferred),
  • HACCP training or certification,
  • Ten years of experience in food safety related field,
  • Mid-level understanding of microbiology and food science,
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills,
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills,
  • Strong computer skills and understanding of process methodologies,
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently,
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities,
  • Willingness to travel by car throughout a specific geographic area.
