GCI Inc. is seeking a qualified Food
Technologist (R&D/QA) to work in our food ingredient manufacturing
facility located in Atlanta, Georgia. This position will be responsible for
product development and perform analytical activities for GCI range of
products. Candidate must be motivated, reliable and able to work in a team
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Product development through
hands on bench top prototyping, pilot plant scale up and full
production scale trials
- Provides proper documentation
(notebooks, written reports) and ensure proper knowledge management
for all projects
- Creates and maintains
specifications for raw materials, and finished products.
- Conducts shelf life
evaluation and recommendations to ensure product meets the quality
- Must be knowledgeable of food
- Be very familiar with
chemical analysis and techniques as related to food or must be
comfortable to learn new techniques in formal and non-formal settings.
- Validate current lab
processes, procedures and test methods. Propose solutions for
continuous improvements in the lab in relation to quality control
systems and via analysis of results.
- Approve and validate training
of lab personnel to insure understanding and compliance to standards.
- Develop lab training sessions
and lab work instructions for the plant.
- Inform management on lab
- Ensure all lab supplies are
ordered and proper inventories are maintained.

housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality, safety, and

Qualifications and Competencies
- BA/BS in Food Science,
Chemistry, Microbiology or related field with 2-5 years’ experience
- Knowledge of food analysis;
Ability to operate a variety of office and laboratory equipment, pH
meters, water activity meter, viscometer, etc.
- Ability to read, understand
and implement laboratory procedures.
- HACCP certification is
preferred; Working knowledge of nutritional software is a plus
- Industrial Experience is
- Ability to function as a team
member and contribute to group goals.
- Ability to work in a

- Good communication and
computer skills (Excel, Word) are required.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Salary: $19.00 /hour
