This position is responsible for the development of new products and adaptation of existing formulas to meet customer requirements and specifications. Products may include fruit preparations and related products for dairy, food service, bakery, beverage and specialty applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:†††††††††††††††††
∑ Develop products from conception to production that meets customer specifications and needs.
∑ Lead, manage and complete multiple assigned research & development projects within specified timelines.
∑ Develop products within cost parameters as required.
∑ Responsibilities include formulation, bench top cook-up, and flavor and color application.
∑ Assist R&D Manager in the coordination of internal and external trials i.e. R&D (internal), customers (external)
∑ Oversee pilot and start-up batches, adapting formulas and processes as required.
∑ Develop and lead sensory evaluation studies on new ingredients, flavors and finished products.
∑ Co-ordinate and lead shelf life studies and responsible for writing final reports an d communicating results to customers/R&D Manager.
∑ Complete required commercialization documents and enter production formulas and process procedures in the Oracle system.
∑ Establish product specifications on new products and update as needed.
∑ Develop nutritionals on Genesis Program and update as needed.
∑ Develop and update product Labeling information.
∑ Ensure new products are in compliance with all regulations and certifications.
∑ Complete documentation for organic, non-GMO and other certifications as required.
∑ Complete product specifications on customer web based sites with all required product information.
∑ Gain and share technical knowledge keeping informed of new technologies, ingredients, products and processes.
∑ Effectively communicate and provide technical support and assistance training Sales, Quality Assurance and Production departments.
∑ Work with R&D Manager and Procurement to source new quality and cost effective ingredients and complete documentation including specifications on new raw materials.
∑ Provide product information and technical support to customers.
∑ Assist in technical training to R&D team members.
∑ Other duties as assigned.

∑ At least 5 years of industry experience in product development with relevant experience with food preps, highly desirable.
∑ Knowledge of regulatory, organic, non-GMO and kosher requirements.
∑ Computer proficiency in Windows based programs including MS Word, Outlook and MS Excel
o Knowledge of Genesis Nutritional programs a plus
Bachelors or Masterís degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or related field.
Five years related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience. Manufacturing environment experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Candidate must possess a strong working knowledge of Food preparation.†† Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices is beneficial. Outstanding verbal, written, multi-tasking and presentation skills.† Ability to create momentum and foster organizational change. †
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Approximately; 95% of work is performed in a R&D office/lab environment.† 5% of work may involve being in the agricultural or manufacturing environment.
