AIG's Risk Consultant group is looking for a food safety consultant for
their Crisis Management (CM) division. The CM division provides Product
Contamination insurance to food and beverage manufacturers around the
globe. This position is focused primarily on North American and Latin
American food/beverage manufacturers.
In this role, you will:
· Perform desk top analysis
reviewing the quality control, recall preparedness and HACCP programs of
food and beverage clients. Write reports for staff assessing the foods
safety hazards and controls associated with food and beverage manufacturers
seeking insurance or renewing existing policies.
· Determine the appropriate
contaminated products insurance deductible by analyzing manufacturing
outputs, production processes and reviewing documentation provided by
· Generate recommendations
to reduce the frequency and/or severity of contamination and recall losses
for specific clients.
· Provide technical
training to AIG staff on food safety, emerging issues in the industry,
recall preparedness, etc.
· Conduct research on
related food safety and recall management topics which also include legal
and regulatory issues related to FSMA, FDA, USDA, CFIA, etc.
· Support underwriters, claims staff and legal by providing technical
support on food safety and risk management issues. Function as a member of
the underwriting team and assist in the development and delivery of the
long term strategy for the product contamination insurance portfolio.
· Manage or assist in projects and research related to contaminated food
and beverage insurance, underwriter insurance rating systems, large
contamination loss events, etc.
· Work with vendors/consultants that support the contaminated product
insurance line such as food safety consulting companies, supply chain
management consultants, public relations vendors, etc.
Over time, in this role, you may work directly with food and beverage
manufactures and their insurance brokers to assist in addressing food
safety and risk management issues
Significant experience working in food/beverage industry (e.g. food safety,
compliance, audit, risk management). This includes
a working knowledge of biological, chemical and physical contamination
hazards and controls, as well as manufacturing systems, recall/crisis
management and quality/certification systems (HACCP, GFSI, etc) for those industries. A minimum of 7 years of job
related experience is required.
· Working knowledge of supply chain
management as well as the legal and regulatory environment including global
food safety initiatives and practices.
· Knowledgeable in food and beverage product
liability, product recall, and has experience related to auditing and/or
evaluating related risk management activities.
· Ability to work independently with limited
· Excellent written and verbal communication
· Demonstrated analytical skills.
· Knowledgeable of general insurance underwriting principles
and practice is preferred.
· Spanish language skills (reading and speaking) is
