Sealed Air’s Intellibot Robotics is seeking a Senior Global Safety Compliance Engineer. This person is responsible for ensuring all product development is designed with safety as the primary concern and that all production follows safety requirements.  Secondary responsibilities include securing creative practical and uncompromised safety that ensures a competitive advantage over our competition in the global market place. This position will report to the Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Parent all aspects of compliance sustainability, from project concept through the life of the product, including in some global locations, and removal of the product from service.
  • Lead the direction and efforts of compliance acquisition per marketing global strategy in an arena where some countries use technical regulations standards as a non-tariff trade barrier
  • To devise a strategy to efficiently acquire as many profitable markets / countries approvals with the least investment without risking serious injury to the end users.
  • Ensure engineering design, production support and production processes result in a robust repeatable safe product
  • Sustain approvalsReview and accept/reject all engineering change notices
  • Maintain all components critical to compliance as vendors modify same
  • Create a flexible TF (Technical File) for maximum logistic flexibility, minimum TF revisions, minimum agency maintenance fees
  • Perpetual vigilance of Revisions /Withdrawal dates of any TRS effecting product to alert engineering in a timely manner to effect change
  • Maintain vendor RoHS, WEEE, and REACH records to satisfy compliance documentation
  • Review designs from Product Development to ensure regulatory compliance when updating designs and replacing components
  • Review designs from Research & Development to ensure repeatable safe product designs and regulatory compliance when selecting new components and creating new designs
  • Ensure electromagnetic compatibility standards are met for all products.
  • Perform risk assessments pertaining to applicable standards for all products.
  • Exert approval authority over all engineering change notices, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Liaison between the Company and regulatory compliance product testing labs
  • Work with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to design and prototype compliant solutions
  • Prepare products for compliance testing. Responsible for all compliance testing.
  • Interface with technical publications resources, both in house and contractors to ensure documentation and labeling is adequate and correct
  • Prepare technical documentation for various compliance bodies, such as CE, CSA, UL, etc.
  • Collect compliance documentation of components from vendors and maintain library of up to date vendor documentation
  • Collaborate with other compliance departments within the company on a global scale to ensure worldwide product compliance

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 20 years of machine and/or appliance regulatory compliance experience covering U.S., Europe, and Asia.
