  • Responsible for conducting regular set of quality inspections by visiting retail and wholesale grocery stores. 
  • Provide immediate feedback to the Quality and Sales Department, as well as others in the Supply Chain regarding fruit quality and its condition.  This will allow for immediate corrective action where necessary and to avoid customer issues by making decisions about the product.
  • Educate our customers & consumers about our fruit, its requirements and condition; how to recognize defects & determine how serious they are, and lastly, how to perform inspections on the fruit.
  • Responsible for accuracy of statistical data collected and communicated and for periodically calibrating with other Quality auditors/coordinators/inspectors to ensure accuracy of inspections. 
  • Check all fruit arrivals and measure the freshness, firmness, size and count, general appearance and any other pertinent comments regarding quality and condition.  Quality Auditor must grade every fruit lot about quality/condition and determinate process to follow, reject or reroute the fruit.   The Quality Auditor will provide direction to send the fruit to the right customer.
  • Visit main customers on a weekly basis, not only to perform quality evaluations, but as well to understand what needs to be improved when complaints & rejections occur.  The Quality Auditor will report findings & provide recommendations to the process.
  • Prepare quality reports to communicate to Chiquita team the results of inspections.
  • Serve as a liaison, support & facilitator between NA Quality and the local operations (Port & DCs)




    • Bachelor or higher degree desired.
    • Minimum 1 year in fruit/vegetable quality control experience preferred.


Special Skills and Abilities Required

    • Organized, good planning skills, able to work with little supervision.
    • Computer savvy with expertise in  MS Office, Internet & Outlook environment.  Kirkey software is not required but will be a plus.
    • Certain experience in inventory management & systems required.


Language Skills Required

    • English.  Spanish not required but will be a plus.
