PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

In this role you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day R&D for the Swisse and Healthy Times businesses, and related manufacturing and packing facilities. You will oversee and manage new product projects and product improvement projects. This means you will be the product and processing expert of new and existing products, and act as the liaison between these team members and the manufacturers/packers for the coordination and communication. You will be playing an important supporting role in supply chain operation to ensure that Swisse and Healthy Times will have consistent high quality supply of products for customers worldwide.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Following New Product Development Process, manage all aspects of new product developments and product improvements for the Swisse & Healthy Times business in USA, and execute the projects with other team members in marketing, finance, supply chain, R&D, QA, and compliance, in order to deliver high quality products according to project timeline and budge.
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge and understanding of each product in terms of ingredients, formulation, processing and packaging.
  • Communicate and coordinate with a multi-role team on the project execution.
  • Participate in cross-team activities and global projects for Swisse and Healthy Times brands.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new ingredients, new processes, and proposed changes.
  • Notify senior management of significant quality challenges that may impact the product and brand image.
  • Management of technical aspects of contract manufacturers of Swisse & Healthy Times products
  • Utilize appropriate risk management in day to day activities.
  • Review and investigation of customer complaints
  • Review and management of stability programs and other data supporting products (as necessary)
  • Ongoing review of processes and the potential for improvement; report opportunities for product and process improvements
  • 15-30% travelling to suppliers, manufacturers, and packers for business needs
  • Other activities may include assisting QA Manager in the technical challenges such as:
  • Review and Investigation of consumer complaints, Execution of Change Controls and management of Deviations (internal and external), Review of Product and Ingredient Specifications, SOP Development & Review, Approval Processes, Review of Technical Documentation for ingredients and products, and Overseeing the ongoing stability program (as applicable), etc. * Implement and promote the Swisse pledge for benchmark standards

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of B.S. Degree in Food Science, Food Technology and other related fields.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Dietary Supplements or Food industry, mainly in the areas of Manufacturing, R&D and QA, and other related areas.
  • Previous experience in cross-functional team projects; Previous project management experience is a plus.
  • General understanding of regulatory requirements for dietary supplements / food products,
  • General understanding of the General Principles and Requirements of US Food Law and Regulations, and any other additional legal requirements for the products in USA as agreed.
  • Good understanding of GMP and HACCP
  • Good background in cross-cultural communications and management.
