Description and Responsibilities:

Compound liquid batches (fragrances/flavourings) to meet customer orders in a time efficient manner

 

Sampling:

Manage incoming and outgoing ingredients and samples to internal and external organisations worldwide.

  • Perform daily sample tasks that involve:

Obtaining sample

Processing sample

Packaging sample

Tracking sample

Updating inventory system

shipping product

  • Providing communication updates to designated parties.
  • Communicate discrepancies to appropriate personnel and solve routine problems independently (eg: wrong sample code or no address etc.)
  • Distributes sample information to appropriate parties for processing ensuring labelling and quality control is complete before dispatch- hazardous data sheet to be included in all shipments.
  • Work with delivery companies in transporting necessary products to other locations, and when necessary, interact with freight forwarders to ensure product arrives.
  • Manage Sampling consumables and other shared RD&A inventory stock levels

         QSHE Compliance:

o    Daily swabbing of food processing equipment and production rooms as per agreed swabbing schedule

o    Daily pre-use checks of equipment and rooms

o    Identify and ensure the closure of any corrective actions found during checks

o    Complete compliance audits as required

o    Coordination of micro testing, liaising with 3rd party suppliers to complete

o    Work with QSHE department on site, in particular the Quality Manager for the building

o    Environmental checks to ensure Effluent License compliance.

o    Escalation of non-compliances to QSHE department

o    Supervision of contractors as required

 

Qualifications:

 

 

 

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Food Science, or related field

2-5 years years of progressively responsible, post baccalaureate experience in research and development roles within a food or beverage company, or in food production-related positions.

 

Additionally, must possess the following:

i) Knowledge of food quality improvement methods including use knowledge of GMPs and HACCP;

ii) Experience with profit improvement through reduced cost formulations, raw material selection and process efficiency improvement;

iii) Experience with operation of lab and plant equipment, including extruders, mixers, kettles, ovens, cooling, and packaging;

iv) Experience streamlining raw materials into manageable groups, including reduction of redundant and unnecessary materials.

 

Physical Requirements: Must be able to taste and smell chemicals, flavors and food products. Must be able to stand for long periods of time in a laboratory setting.

Must be able to sit for long periods of time at a desk. Working Environment: Laboratory
