The Specification & Technologist supports the accurate and consistent creation and central documentation of all specifications across the Grains Portfolio. This role will lead the specification process with Product Developers, R&D QA management, Purchasing and Suppliers. Key accountabilities of this role will also include development and implementation of relevant tools and processes that support changing business needs, and to apply quality assurance principles to ensure compliance and targeted performance. Ingredient & Finished Product Specification

Administrator which includes:

         Setting and maintenance of sufficient specification review cycles for R&D Developers

         Execution of advanced searches across specification databases (not currently implemented) to support spec maintenance or to drive critical business resolution.

         Creation of rigorous R&D business processes enabling the central documentation and approval of specifications.

         Collaboration with product developers across the Grains portfolio, requesting and compiling all specifications into a central R&D database

         Review of new and existing R&D specifications during compilation to identify specification gaps and inconsistencies requiring R&D development support

         Creation and institution of a central R&D specification approval process, ensuring sufficient review and approval of new specifications.

         Preparation of business requirements and technical input supporting the creation of new specifications and standards IT infrastructure supporting R&D.

         Training of R&D Developers to create, write, document, and secure approval of ingredient and product/process specifications.

         Tracking of volume and approval status of new and existing specifications.

         Support of specification routings, documentation and distribution to Supply Chain

         Reporting of Quality performance related to specification activity and documentation as part of regular QA performance reviews.

         Assurance of personal safety for self and colleagues



Qualifications:

         BS in Food Science or related technical field.

         Bachelor to Master's degree in Engineering or Food Science or related discipline preferred.

         5+ years of R&D product experience

         Knowledge and ability to evaluate specifications, analytical methods and food properties with ingredients and products.

         Solid computer skills, including experience in databases

         Understand of basic product development elements, and principles of quality assurance and control, including sensory.

         Solid interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively across functional teams, resource levels and especially with ingredient suppliers.

         Must possess effective oral and written communication skills.
