Position Overview:

The Corporate Food Safety Manager is the internal and external point person for all Food Safety related topics at Tosca. They lead the implementation and ongoing management of the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) across all facilities and their associated certifications. This includes the creation and maintenance of food safety process controls, standards and compliance from a corporate standpoint.

Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions):

  • Development and ongoing management of an ISO 22000 FSMS
  • Lead Regional Food Safety Coordinator and facilitate the schedule for Food Safety audits and recertification’s
  • Work closely with Plant Manager, and production employees to ensure compliance to company food safety standards
  • Oversight and development of Food Safety process controls and pre-requisite programs as an established food safety program
  • Conduct and or organize facility internal inspections/audits
  • Develop training schedule and provide training for all employees on Food Safety and HACCP Principles
  • Develop and coordinate food safety training programs to meet certification requirements
  • Investigate quality and food safety concerns with customers and suppliers, work with plant team to resolve and follow up with corrective measures
  • Develop and update raw material specifications using regulatory requirements
  • Promote food safety program awareness through internal communication, postings, newsletters, and specific training programs
  • Monitor regulatory environment and interpret regulation. Prepare company for applicable regulations
  • Participate in industry working groups to promote and improve industry best food safe practices
  • Promote a food safe culture within the company

Requirements, Experience, & Education (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Degree in Food Science or equal amount of relatable experience
  • 5-7 years of working knowledge of HACCP, Food Defense and food safety principles
  • Food industry or packaging experience is strongly preferred
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, sense of urgency and flexibility
  • Working knowledge of quality practices and procedures and the ability to coordinate a HACCP Program and provide improvements
  • Good understanding of production – plant and office procedures
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Maintains up-to-date industry knowledge
  • A thorough understanding of existing raw materials and their functionality
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, and with customers
  • Ability to travel 10-20%
