Scientist- Snacks Innovation Product Development is responsible for:
The coordination of complex and multi disciplined
product development projects with minimal supervision. This includes ensuring
that objectives, budget, and timelines are met. Leads more than 1 complex
project at a time.
bench, pilot plant, and plant trials to create prototypes for consumer
identification and/or innovative creation of new & unique
concepts/ingredients/formulas/prototypes to achieve business goals of
commercializing new products and product forms.
and practical application/modification of existing technologies to achieve
business goals of commercializing new products or line extensions.
in a team environment ensuring alignment with cross functional partners
including Marketing, QC, Process Development, Packaging Development, Finance,
Operations, and Purchasing.
technical leadership to assure smooth rollouts of new products or line
extensions into operations
product documentation to enable smooth commercialization and training of
seasoned judgment and acts as a role model/mentor for more junior product
engages members of the Campbell Soup Veg COE and IPT to further technical
thinking and problem solving on projects
assessment, and validation of formulations from bench top to
all proper documentation is done correctly and on schedule.
the financial aspects of Product Development including ingredient costs and
as a leader in the R&D Community by creating and rolling out new best
practices. Role model for junior scientists.
an innovation culture in Pepperidge Farm by continually introducing new ideas
and product concepts.
designs, supervises the development of new experimental protocols/best
practices required to validate product concepts and prototypes.
directs the activities of outside vendors including ingredients and services.
position requires the ability to interact and communicate effectively with
Sr. Management as well as Plant Management.
Scientist must be a good problem solver, able to identify, interpret and
analyze the correct data, and independently provide detailed directions to
active knowledge and understanding in areas beyond Product Development
including Process and Package Development, Culinary, QA, Project Engineering,
and thorough understanding of Marketing needs and financial hurdles
a high level of competence and professionalism in a dynamic business
adapts to changing priorities
the use of statistics as it relates to product design (use experimental
designs) and extended runs/line qualifications (relates to process capability
and consumer acceptable specifications)
engagement by identifying & leading improvement programs for the Snacks
R&D Innovation Team
Food Science, Food Process Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with Product
years of related experience with a consumer packaged goods background -
Desired experience with snacks and bakery unit operations: eg: cookie, cracker, chips, bars, bread, doughs, etc...
analytical skills, strong attention to details, good communications and
multiple projects at any given time in a team environment.
for food science and product development relating to Innovation.
with consumer testing methodology including Concept Testing,
Difference/Discrimination Testing, CLTs, and IHUTs
by change and skilled in navigating ambiguity
functional/technical skills, in particular knowledge of Food
Technology/Baking Technology/Culinary Science, Food Safety and Quality
Systems, and Project Management
conflict resolution and gains alignment of cross function team
R&D - office/lab/pilot plant/plant environment with up to 40-50% travel
