Expand the growth of a cutting edge Life Sciences, Food Safety, and Human Nutrition services provider throughout the Central Midwest!  As the Regional Food Safety Account Manager you will lead all business development and sales activities required to grow the company’s core expertise in food safety, food quality testing, and regulatory compliance services within the Food, Beverage, and Food Service industries.  For more than 40 years our client has earned global distinction in providing superior analytical, consulting, auditing, contract research, and training services for their customers to help safeguard their products, minimize safety and quality risks, and protect their commercial food brands. 

 

Responsibilities:

·        Establish strong relationships with existing Food & Beverage customers located throughout the defined sales territory. 

·        Win new business from current and potential target accounts.

·        Work directly with other sales personnel as a resource within the territory to develop and implement services at key national or multiple lab accounts.

·        Manage existing national accounts and work to establish new national accounts.

·        Write and present commercial proposals for new business.

·        Negotiate detailed project scopes of work and corresponding pricing for service contracts.

·        Communicate sales progress and key customer contacts via central CRM database.

·        Work from a home office with periodic overnight travel (up to 40%).

Job Requirements

·        B.S. in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Nutrition, Food Science or other related technical degree.

·        Minimum of 5 years related experience in food microbiology and chemistry testing services, laboratory quality systems, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), accreditation requirements, pertinent regulations and other industry specific affiliations.

·        Prior experience as a Manager, Supervisor, or Technician in Food Quality Assurance (QA), Safety Compliance, or Laboratory testing role is a plus. 

·        Prior Sales or Business Development experience within three (3) or more of the following industries:  Bakery, Beverage, Candy and Confections, Canned and Frozen Foods, Dairy, Dietary Supplements, Fats and Oils, Foodservice, Grain / Cereal, Meat and Poultry, Packaging, Pet Food, Produce, Restaurants, Seafood, and Snack Foods.

·        Must possess broad knowledge of food contaminants and spoilage issues caused by:  pathogens, melamine, pesticides, mycotoxins, allergens, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and heavy metals (arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury).

·        Strong working knowledge of food plant production operations, production equipment, cleaning and sanitizing procedures, and food quality standards such as HACCP, USDA, FDA, AOAC, FSMA, and ISO/IEC 17025.

·        Well-developed oral and written communication skills.

·        Excellent time and territory management skills with the ability to work independently.

·        Strong competitive drive, enthusiasm, and a passion to succeed.

·        Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Compensation for this position includes an attractive base salary, sales commissions, full medical/dental benefits, 401-K, vehicle allowance, laptop, phone, and paid time off.  The ideal candidate will already be located within 2 hours of Chicago.  Relocation will not be offered with this role.
