Lineage Logistics is an innovative leader and the second-largest refrigerated warehouse/ Distribution Company in the world. We play a critical role in the national food and services supply chain. Lineage is currently searching for a Food Safety & Compliance Manager to join our team.


The Food Safety & Compliance Manager will assist with developing and overseeing implementation of programs, policies, and procedures involving food safety certification and warehousing practices at the facility.  This person will review processes, policies, and procedures to ensure effectiveness and direct changes for monitoring and verification documentation.  The FSC Manager will oversee company food safety and sanitation efforts by working with facility management to maintain compliance with Federal, State and local health regulations.  Direct the development and execution of process monitoring and verification processes


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


1. Ensures continued compliance with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard audit requirements (i.e. Safe Quality Foods [SQF] certification) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP) audit system standards.

a) Reviews and approves corrective action plans for resolution of audit non-conformance reports.

b) Conducts periodic internal audits to verify compliance with established program requirements.

c) Maintains active working relationships with all appropriate industry and regulatory bodies.

d) Directs all aspects of the Company regulatory compliance with FSMA.

e) Periodically monitors and audits facility personnel to ensure all established warehouse food safety operating procedures are being followed.

2. Facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of SQF and GDP audit compliance systems and ensures their integrity through validation and verification.

a) Assists in distribution center food safety audit preparation and compliance processes.

b) Assists in the development and execution of verification programs required to validate regulatory requirements.

c) Manages various process improvement initiatives.

3. Ensures adherence to food safety and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs and their attendant intervention systems.

a) Helps to define risk categories and ensures their prioritization in the development of processes.

b) Assists in the development of general food safety and regulatory compliance standards for highest risk categories.

4. Works with Corporate and safety department personnel as well as with facility management.

a) Advises facility and operations management to plan corrective actions for ongoing compliance.

5. Manages activities in establishing and executing effective food defense plans within the organization by collaborating with facility management and asset protection teams. Acts as a qualified consultant on all food safety related matters.

a)  Oversees various process improvement initiatives to better ensure ongoing compliance.

b)  Manages procedures for the execution of product recalls.

c)  Investigates product safety and compliance issues (i.e. tampering, adulteration, etc.)

d)  Assists facility operations related to customer food safety and quality assurance complaints.

6. Oversees a comprehensive facility training system for use by warehouse management and support personnel.

a) Conducts training sessions to ensure companywide standardization.

7. Communicates compliance matters to senior leadership.

a) Generates a quarterly report of “Top 10 Non-conformances” assessed during recent site audits.

b) Provides information on upcoming scheduled audits.

c)  Provides periodic reports to Corporate leadership on companywide audit performance and recommended avenues for improvement.

Job Requirements

·        Four-year college degree.

·        Minimum of five years of experience in mid- or upper- level management.

·        Able to become HACCP Certified

·        Ability to obtain a Food Defense Coordinator Level II Certification

·        Become a subject matter expert on State and Federal Regulatory programs (USDA, FDA and State specific) including Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and National Organic Program (NOP).

·        Food Safety experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.

·        Strong communication skills. Ability to effectively present information in one—on—one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

·        Strong problem solving abilities


Work Environment:

·        Fast paced work environment with, in and around industrial machinery.

·        Cold storage environment.  Warehouse bays are kept at a constant 32 degrees (and below zero in certain areas). Ability to withstand cold storage temps for extended periods of time (warm gear provided by company).

·        Noise level varies and at times and can be loud.
