Job Requirements

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


•         Food safety compliance and review of daily production documentation

•         Providing HACCP guidance to the operation, including HACCP plan reviews and validation

•         Assisting with food safety as it relates to vendor management

•         Ensuring that the facility, including the off-site warehouse, meets all food safety laws, regulations, and corporate policies

•         Accountability for food safety during all hours of operation

•         Responsibility for adherence to the Allergen management program, including new product review for allergen content

•         Interfacing with and responding to regulatory agencies to ensure compliance to regulations under the guidance of the Food Safety Manager

•         Interacting with federal or state inspectors regarding product releases

•         Assisting with HACCP, GMP, and food safety training at regular employee meetings

•         Daily interaction and coordination with the Food Safety Manager, the Plant Manager, the Research and Development Manager and Senior Management

•         Ensuring compliance to all standard work processes, including Production Sanitation oversight

•         Ensuring that the plant is in compliance with all regulations, including Food Safety, sanitation, allergen control, pest control, and regulations relating to acidified foods production

•         Actively involved with the Food Safety Team

•         Adhering to and administering company policies and procedures

•         Assisting with the GFSI program: manuals, audits, and daily compliance

•         Assisting with the Fruit Fillings’ Cross Audit Team

•         Monitoring Food Safety Management System plans for appropriate and consistent content, documentation, and execution

•         Assisting with water quality reporting

•         Assisting with environmental pathogen monitoring and reporting



Position Requirements:

•         BA degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related studies

•         Quality, laboratory, and / or food safety experience


Candidate Minimum Qualifications:

•         HACCP certification

•         Thorough technical knowledge of quality and food safety

•         Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strengths and ability to work with a team

•         Computer software skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint


Candidate Preferred Qualifications:

•         Food processing and packaging experience is desired

•         Experience in managing process is preferred

•         Prior GMP experience

•         Understanding of GMP, SSOP, SOP, PM programs

•         Better Process Control School completion and certification is preferred


Working Conditions:

•         Work environment includes plant, laboratory, warehouse, production, non-production and plant grounds

•         The position may require approximately 5% travel and work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends
