Research & Development Coordinator






The R&D Coordinator is responsible for supporting the efforts of the Product/Culinary Development function and the Executive Chef with includes administrative tasks, product cutting facilitation, test support, documentation management . S/he will report directly to the Senior Director of Product Development and help manage and organize the departmentís workflow in a manner which is efficient, effective and customer service oriented.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated and resourceful self-starter with excellent communication skills able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated experience juggling multiple competing tasks and demands.

This position is a stepping stone for development and fits into the future succession plans of the function.

Duties & Responsibilities

Culinary Development

  • Trouble shoot all meal and recipe document requests from the field.
  • Process all Culinary Development department invoices in Apex.
  • Publish all Meal Assembly Cards (MACs) & Recipe Cards on the monthly cycle.
  • Maintain MAC and Recipe archive library.
  • Create/revise MACs as needed.
  • Maintain photo library.
  • Support Home Office Team hospitality with daily lunch and keeping the Lunch room stocked and clean.
  • Support chefs with document management of vendor specifications on meal components.
  • Manage sample retention program (Shelf-life studies on vendor products, meals and overall development samples).
  • Manage product cuttings as requested by chef (too specific, requests may come from other areas).
  • Support commercialization efforts as needed.
  • Build MACs and recipes in Eatec database on the monthly cycle.
  • Secure and manage travel arrangements for Culinary Development Staff.
  • Support and produce Product Development offsite meetings as needed.

Support Executive Chef

  • Secure and manage travel arrangements.
  • Maintain contacts.
  • Process reimbursements.
  • Support annual Food conference for markets with gathering supplies and materials, printing agendas and other training aides and arranging for team meals.
  • Support with mailing packages as needed.
  • General administrative support not to exceed 2 hours a week including the above.

This position requires standard M-F day shift work hours.


Education and Experience

  • BS in Food Science, Science related degree or Culinary Arts preferred.
  • Experience working with natural foods.
  • Basic cooking skills.
  • Ability to multi-task as needed.
  • Project management experience.
  • Test design experience. Ability to coordinate and facilitate product cuttings, meetings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
