1/29/2009-With Washington buzzing about change, John Bode, Principal Attorney at Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Bode Matz P.C., senses some changes will take place in food policy over the next two years. He offers his insights into the changes in the newest post to Food Technology’s ePerspective—a venue where our authors and experts will deliver insight into the sometimes frenzied food landscape.

In his post, Bode reflects that there has been a lot of discussion about establishing a single food agency. It could be proposed that food regulation be removed from the FDA’s jurisdiction and given to a new agency in U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services; however, Bode is unsure that this will happen in 2009. What are your thoughts on a single food agency? Do you believe the current Salmonella outbreak shows that the FDA doesn’t have the adequate resources to protect American consumers? Share your thoughts on this and some of the other changes Bode conjectures at ePerspective. Make sure to check back often to see what others are saying. In addition, our experts will be posting regularly.
