The Food Technologist conducts projects designed to help companies involved in the production or distribution of temperature sensitive food products to determine the root cause of cold chain problems and the appropriate corrective actions. He/she works with Sales and customers to create and present proposals and utilizes other PS resources as appropriate to complete the projects. He/she conducts work/visits at customer sites, typically in food production plants, distribution centers, supermarkets and restaurants.

The Food Technologist will have significant interaction with our customers including QA Managers and Operations Managers as well as front line workers from companies involved in the production or distribution of food products.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 Manage execution of PS Food projects from test design to conducting on-site work to delivery of final report. This involves managing often complex projects assignments that often require independent action and decision-making as well as collaboration with colleagues with expertise in a variety of areas such as food science, statistics and management.

 Participate in sales related activities concerning PS Food project work including writing sales proposals

 Development and continuous improvement of processes used in conducting the projects

 Continuously improve skills and expertise in three key areas: statistics and information visualization, process improvement and cold chain management/refrigeration.

 Other specific tasks as assigned



 BS or MS preferably in Food Science, Food Safety or Postharvest Horticulture

 Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills required

 Strong technical writing skills required

 Knowledge of process improvement methodologies

 Excellent project management skills

 Must be organized and detail oriented

 Creativity and problem-solving skills required

 Spanish language skills helpful but not required.
 

This position involves up to 75% travel. The travel is mostly US domestic travel involving trips of 1-3 days to visit customers sites.
