Bio-Rad purchases Food SAFETY PRODUCT LINE




Hercules, CA  – January 12th, 2009 – Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: BIO and BIOb), a multinational manufacturer and distributor of life science research and clinical diagnostics products, announced today that it has completed the purchase of certain assets of SafePath Laboratories, LLC's food diagnostics business. The sale is effective immediately. The terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

With the purchase of SafePath’s high performance serological immunoassay test kits for Trichinella, Toxoplasma, and Salmonella pathogens, Bio-Rad further expands its food diagnostics product line. “We are excited to be able to offer SafePath’s unique pathogen test products” said Brad Crutchfield, Bio-Rad Vice President and Life Science Manager. "With these new products we are realizing our goal to be a one-stop shop for our customer’s food safety testing needs.”
