Our client, a South Jersey-based cocoa processing plant dedicated to providing the highest quality cocoa products, is seeking a Quality Assurance and Food Safety Manager. With an impressive client base of some of the biggest names in confectionery, our client has a number of facilities strategically located throughout the United States and abroad.

In order to satisfy an increased demand on the East Coast, our client is opening a larger South Jersey-based operation.Committed to supplying its customer base with the highest quality cocoa products, the Quality Assurance and Food Safety Manager will be a critical hire for this new and growing facility.

THE POSITION††††††††††††††††††††††††


The Quality Assurance and Food Safety Manager (QAFSM)will be responsible for directing and overseeing all quality assurance activity for the organization.Specific responsibilities will include developing and implementing the companyís quality assurance and operational key indicators used to verify thatall products meetFood Safety, Quality, and SQF 2000 standards.In addition, the QAFSM will work closely with the Operations Manger and other manufacturing leadership to ensure quality control adheres to product/package specifications as well as regulatory agency requirements.Additionally, the QAFSM isresponsible for maintaining accurate documentation, andinitiating corrective action for product or process deficiencies, as well as interfacing with clients to insure product integrity and customer satisfaction.†††



TheQAFSM will have oversight of the following key areas:†††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††


Quality Assurance Compliance and Oversight

         Identify and implement appropriate quality science techniques and quality management methods in order to enhance operational performance and product quality throughout facility.

         Ensure that all operational processes and procedures are in compliance with annual QC, HACCP, SQF, and Food Security audits requirements.

         Ensure adherence to Corporate Standards, including those required for the review of all quality control, lab testing, sampling, production, batching, warehouse, and sanitation records.

         Develop and implement proactive response to all critical quality assurance issuesthrough an ongoing program of assessment.

         Work in conjunction with customer Quality and Procurement to approve raw material supplies and develop appropriate sampling, lot controls, and sample retention library per customer requirements.



         Oversee operations, from design through start up of Quality Lab, providing expert guidance in the development and implementation of a sound quality assurance program aimed at total customer satisfaction and economic efficiency.

         Manage on-site personnel and interface with all sites with respect to Quality Assurance aimed at monitoring process, inspecting materials and finished products and recording results for management examination.

         Serve as point of contact for all external audits.

         Promote Cost of Quality awareness throughout the organization.


Data and Safety Monitoring

         Lead and assist in the development, implementation, and review of the SQF 2000 system.

         Ensure the integrity of current SQF 2000 system and othercustomized Quality Systems as requiredby customers and/or regulatory agencies.

         Develop a strategy for supplier certification and work closely with customers to assure quality performance of suppliers.




A Bachelorís Degreein in a scientific discipline related to food production is required as well as more than five years of working experience in a food processing environment.Qualified candidates must have SQF certification and proper training and experience in HACCP programs, coupled with good communication skills. Ability to relate to and appropriately respond to inquiries, complaints, or other concerns from customers, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community is required.
