Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager

SUMMARY: The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager develops, implements, and works toward continuous improvement of all QA programs. This is a management role that reports to the Plant Manager. The position utilizes personal expertise in food safety, microbiology, and excellent sanitation/hygiene practices to provide strategic leadership and technical assistance to all departments. Additionally, the FSQA Manager is responsible for the successful completion of company food safety and quality assurance audits.


  • Monitors, audits and approves facilityís manufacturing operations for compliance with local and federal food safety standards and requirements, GMPs and SSOPs.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of HACCP and SQF certification and program.
  • Ensures maintenance of required records and documents, including formal test results, inspections, samples, grower product quality, produced product quality, customer specs, customer claims and product disposition.
  • Interact effectively with DFA, USDA, food safety auditors, and customers to maintain positive, responsive relationships and assure rapid corrective actions through dynamic leadership and timely documentation.
  • Facilitate and coordinate efficient and effective quality standards to meet customer specifications.
  • Develop employees through training, annual review, monitoring and mentoring.
  • Maintain a team environment among department and supervisory staff.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Work closely with sales and plant operations teams in the areas of quality program management, inspection coordination and testing requirements.
  • Implement necessary internal quality assurance systems and infrastructure to support company growth.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and changes affecting food safety and develop and recommend appropriate program changes to ensure governmental compliance.
  • Advise Plant Manager and Senior Management staff of any quality control and food safety issues in addition to presenting sound solutions.


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and manufacturing-related software

  • Bilingual skill beneficial
  • Ability to be relatable, personable and productive within a team environment


  • Bachelorís Degree in Quality Assurance, Food Science, Operations Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical knowledge of quality and food safety, specifically HACCP and SQF Certification
  • Experience dealing with regulatory agencies
  • 3-5 years experience in management, Food Safety or Quality Assurance
  • Experience in Good Manufacturing Practices Audits; food quality, safety documentation and reporting; and submitting and implementing corrective action plans
