BEIJING, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Authorities in China say two men have been sentenced to death in a food-poisoning case that killed two diners and sickened 61 others in Shenzhen City.

Ke Bizhi and Wang Ying were convicted of adding poison to food at a snack bar last February, Xinhua, China's state-run news agency, reported Monday.

Zhu Yuanlin, a businessman convicted of masterminding the poisoning was sentenced to life in prison by Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court.

Prosecutors said Zhu paid Ke and Wang to poison the food in an attempt to get the local government to demolish a marketplace that had taken business from Zhu's stores in the same neighborhood.
