KY Gourmet Express is a growing
manufacturer/distributer of frozen foods. Our current portfolio
includes: 13 varieties of kit-style skillet meals under our Gourmet Dining
label; 5 varieties of steamable meals for two and 5
varieties of appetizers under our Joe's Eat at Home label; and several
private label products for a variety of customers. Our 315,000 square foot

Manager Department: Quality Assurance Reports To: Plant Manager FLSA Status: Salary, Exempt Shift: 6:30 AM – 5:30 PM,
Monday through Friday (or as needed) Base Salary Range: $60,000/year -
$85,000/year Bonus Level: 6 (Target Bonus – 15%) Benefits: Health, dental, vision,

directs quality assurance programs designed to ensure production of safe high
quality products consistent with established standards and regulations by
performing the following duties personally or through subordinate
supervisors. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develops and analyzes
statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards
and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished
product. Formulates and maintains
quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals. Creates and implements
inspection criteria and procedures. Provides inspection
activity for product throughout production cycle. Directs workers engaged
in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over
materials, facilities, and products. Directs technical and administrative
workers engaged in quality assurance activities. Creates and directs
environmental test functions. Applies total quality
management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within
each department. Reviews all data obtained
during all quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company
policies and procedures. Develops new approaches
to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities. Interprets quality
assurance philosophy to key personnel in organization. Performs quality
engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated
requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records. Works with vendors to
insure quality of all purchased ingredients and packaging materials for
company use. Decides whether to
accept a product or continue business with a vendor based on a review by the
quality assurance team. Keeps management team
abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality
assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation. Prepares and presents
technical and program information to the management team. Maintains a working
knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards
including USDA, FDA, HACCP, GMPs, Allergen Control, Food Defense, and SQF
2000 Code. Acts as SQF Practitioner
with responsibility and authority to lead the development and implementation
of Food Safety Fundamentals as specified by SQF 2000 System; oversee
development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF 2000 System;
take appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the SQF 2000 System; and
communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to insure the
effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF 2000 System. Acts as company contact
for USDA inspector and all third party auditors. Writes, implements,
reviews, and maintains all food safety/security plans, policies, and
procedures, with input from various management team members. Plays an active role on
quality management teams within the organization. Designs and implements
quality assurance training programs to key personnel in conjunction with
managers. Investigates and adjusts
customer complaints regarding quality. Ensures all safety
procedures are followed at all times. Ensures compliance with
all food safety/security plans including GMPs, allergen control and matrixes,
HACCP, USDA, FDA, Food Defense, and SQF 2000 Code. Oversees all
microbiological testing and reacts accordingly to results. Supervises sanitation
department activities including SSOPs. Oversees pest control
activities, personally or through a 3rd party service. Works with R & D
department on development/maintenance of product specifications, nutritional
information, and packaging label approval on new and existing products. Supervisory
Responsibilities Directly supervises 14
employees in the Quality Assurance Department and Sanitation Department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include
