Courts in Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec have approved a Canada-wide settlement of up to $27 million providing financial compensation for people who purchased or consumed meat products recalled by Maple Leaf Foods during last summer's listeriosis outbreak that killed 21 people.

Compensation ranging from $750 to $125,000 is available to those who purchased or consumed recalled products produced by Maple Leaf during the period Jan. 1, 2008, to Aug. 31, 2008. Additional details are available on mapleleafclaim.com.

Maple Leaf initially confirmed the settlement, which was subject to court approval, last December.
