China formulates supportive rules for Food Safety Law

BEIJING, Jun 03, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- China has worked out specific rules to guarantee the implementation of the Food Safety Law, according to the State Administration for Industry & Commerce (SAIC) of China.

Included in the rules are those on the management of food circulation license, supervision on food safety during the ci rculation process, and standards on model retailers.

SAIC also laid down food management systems conce rning market access, quality supervision, market inspection, sampling check, safety precaution and emergency response, advertising, and lega l enforcement in the food industry.

China's Food Safety Law was put into effect on Mo nday. The law is aimed at improving efficiency of food safety monitori ng network with tougher standards, strict supervision and severe punis hment of offenders.
