USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service has announced it will partner with non-profit public health organization NSF International to hold a food safety education conference Mar. 23-26, 2010, in Atlanta.

The conference, "Advancements in Food Safety Education: Trends, Tools and Technologies," will unite industry professionals, educators, trade and health associations, consumer groups, health care providers and others interested in food safety. Presentations will cover the causes and effects of foodborne illness and sources to which that illness is commonly attributed, along with other topics such as the role of foodservice and retail, social marketing and consumer outreach, and the role of technology in consumer education and risk communication.
