Maple Leaf Foods marks one-year anniversary of listeria deaths

Toronto-based Maple Leaf Foods took out full-page ads in a number of Canadian newspapers this week to mark the one-year anniversary of the listeriosis outbreak traced to Maple Leaf lunchmeat that led to the deaths of 22 Canadians.

In letter-style advertisements, CEO Michael McCain wrote, "On behalf of our 24,000 employees, we promise to never forget."
