Position Summary:

As a Sr. Scientist in the Foods Research and Development (R&D) group, you will be part of a team developing new products and driving innovation by demonstrating strong scientific principles and having a “love the lab” attitude.

To achieve this, you will:

·         Provide technical expertise to formulate, improve and commercialize food products in the dressings/sauces/condiments categories.

·         Interface closely with other functional areas involved in product development, including process and packaging development, regulatory, microbiology, marketing, sales and manufacturing.

·         Demonstrate the technical depth required to execute projects that deliver key business initiatives.

·         Proficiently apply science to creatively solve problems and achieve project results within the allocated timeline and assigned resources.

·         Analyze and interpret data to meet project targets and objectives.

·         Draw conclusions to recommend next steps to complete project milestones.

·         Communicate effectively with teams to convey project information, including key technical risks, killer issues and relevant consumer attributes.


Required Qualifications:

·         MS or PhD in Food Science

·         Minimum of 7 years of industry experience, preferably in Food related CPG.

·         Broad and deep product development technical knowledge preferably focused on at least one of these areas: dressings/sauces/condiments, emulsion technology, dairy science & chemistry.

·         Experienced in leading technical teams in R&D &/or Engineering.

·         Strong leadership skills.

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·         Proven track record of driving company growth through product innovation.

·         Demonstrated project planning and project management skills in the commercialization of new products.

·         Able to use technical skills to meet business needs.

·         Strong influencing/alignment skills (championing and selling.)

·         Experienced in food development and commercialization processes.

·         Familiar with other R&D functions in consumer products - Consumer Research, Product Development, Process Development, etc.

·         Effective interacting on cross-functional teams - Marketing, Sales, Product Supply, etc.

·         Ability to identify, champion and institutionalize new tools, processes and technologies

·         Strong people motivator and team player


Desired Qualifications:

·         Experienced in using consumer connection tools, including Drivers of Liking and Consumer Needs Translation to drive DOE based product development.

·         Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing operations in consumer products.

·         Project Management experience in development & commercialization of new products using a Stage Gate process.
