Challenges
of Reducing Microbial Risk in Retail
Robin has over 20 years experience in the food industry working in both analytical fields and rapid method development. She earned her Bachelor's of Science form the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA and her Masters of Food Science from Kansas State University. Robin began her career at AmTest Laboratories, an independent contract laboratory in Redmond, WA as a lab technician responsible for testing food, water and industrial samples, later moving on to become the Director of the Microbiology Department. In 1993, Robin joined BioControl Systems in Bellevue, WA as a Research and Development Scientist. Robin worked on antibody preparation and purification as well as pathogen detection kit development, AOAC Official Methods Study administration and technical support. Robin is currently employed at Costco Wholesale as the Corporate Microbiologist/Corporate Quality Assurance Laboratory Manager, overseeing corporate sanitation programs and all aspects of quality testing for Kirkland Signature products.
