Overview:
The Safety & Environmental
Specialist will be responsible for providing training to support safety and
environmental compliance and the Specialist will also support all phases of
the safety and environmental program at Kemin. Particularly,
the Specialist must be a team player with the ability to support department
and business unit loss reduction programs and perform tasks related to
auditing and inspections in order to assure compliance and minimization of
risk.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in anual
safety trainings Assist with hazardous waste management and reduction
- Provide support for ergonomic
assessments.
- Participate in incident investigations
with support of others to determine probable root causes and develop
corrective action plans. Input accident data into insurance tracking
system.
- Partner with business units to improve
safety and environmental compliance.
- Conduct inspections and audits; aid in
developing corrective actions (safety and environmental) and advise
responsible management of conditions.
- Provide data collection and reporting,
analyze accident trends and participate in the development of
recommendations to improve results.
- Maintain records required to support
safety requirements and training presentations.
- Assist with development, implementation
and maintenance of EHS system policies, programs and procedures in
conjunction with EHS Manager.
- Provide support to business unit safety
committees and work groups.
- Take an active role in Safety Security Council.
- Take an active role in activities to
reduce, reuse and recycle.
- Help to ensure that all applicable
internal and external reporting requirements are performed accurately
and in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental
Science, safety, or related field
- Certified to ship hazardous materials and
waste
- 1-3 years of experience
- Public speaking classes or presentation
skills preferred.
