Job Summary
Oversees food safety and quality assurance functions
throughout the organization. Provides guidance to management regarding best
practices on meeting food safety regulatory standards and ensuring consumer
safety.
Essential
Duties and Responsibilities
- Offers
direction to all business areas regarding food safety and quality,
material resources, and best practices. Ensures continuous improvement
of the food distribution process.
- Ensures
Company is aligned with current and evolving food safety standards
through involvement with health and regulatory agencies, food safety
trade groups and committees.
- Identifies
Company-wide food safety and protection opportunities. Reviews and prioritizes
safety issues and leads resolution activities.
- Provides
compliance support and input to additional areas of the business
including FSQ, Quality Assurance, Fresh Item Management, product recalls
and labeling, and system audits.
- Responsible
for the development and delivery of food safety education to partners to
ensure compliance and consumer safety.
- Remains
current on federal and state food safety regulations and provides
guidance, support and training to all business areas.
- Responsible
for identification and resolution of pest control issues.
- Responsible
for notifying management of any food safety, health, or pest control
issues and ensures the appropriate areas of the business are involved in
resolving any issues that arise within these areas.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced
knowledge of federal and state food safety codes and methods.
- Basic
knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access,
Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Basic
mathematical skills.
- Basic
knowledge of the BGC Planning system for the purposes of planning,
forecasting and budgeting.
- Basic
knowledge of SAP reporting and transactional applications.
- Ability
to read and interpret information.
- Ability
to prepare reports and business correspondence.
- Ability
to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability
to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
- Ability
to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
- Ability
to show information in presentation or diagram form.

to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Ability
to use precision hand tools.
- Ability
to travel to off-site and out-of-town locations with possible overnight
stays.

to work on-call and flexible schedules including nights, weekends and
holidays.
- May
be required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy.
Education,
Experience, and Qualifications
- Bachelor's
Degree and four or more years of related experience; or an equivalent
combination of education and experience required.
- Minimum
of 21 years of age required.
- Food
Handler Certification required.
- Food
Protection Manager Certification required.
