The Senior Food Safety Professional reports to the Manager, Safety.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Food Safety Professional serves as a technical resource for the food and beverage aspects of restaurants, retail, hotel/lodging, manufacturing, production, warehouse, construction, and entertainment/theatrical facilities. The goal? To enhance food safety for our Guests, and for the Disney Cast Members and co-workers that help make the magic. Every day as a Senior Food Safety Professional is different! On any given day, you might:

  • Use the technical know-how and sound knowledge you've developed over the years to assess and solve a broad spectrum of food safety issues across a diverse group of Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts businesses
  • Develop safety programs that improve results
  • Analyze safety, injury, and illness trends and data to design new ways to progress safety performance
  • Develop solid relationships within your team and foster a collaborative environment to promote success
  • Manage consultants and vendors
  • Ensure that all locations are ready for state and local inspections at any time, and be on hand when the inspector comes
  • Partner with leadership and executives chefs early in the "proof of concept" phase of a new initiative to incorporate the food safety perspective, all while helping keep the "story" behind the food intact
  • Spend up to 70% of your day "in the field," which as Disney means over 150 locations in our 50 square-miles of Parks & Resorts

Basic Qualifications:

  • Deep belief in the goal of providing safe food experiences for all
  • 5+ years of food safety experience
  • Broad knowledge of all regulatory and industry standards, and firm command of industry best-practices
  • Use analytics and identify trends
  • Project management experience, including planning, organization and prioritization of multiple plans at the same time
  • Prepare and showcase influential presentations while working collaboratively
  • Operate "in the gray" of shifting situations
  • Resolve problems outside area of expertise
  • Experience training others, and the desire to mentor and develop your team
  • Know when and how to say "no," with the skills to resolve conflicts and diffuse difficult situations
  • Journey to food venues through the sprawling Walt Disney World Parks & Resorts
  • Flexibility to work a fluid schedule that varies depending on our needs
  • CSP, CFSP, REHS certifications


Required Education

  • 4 year degree in Occupational Safety or Safety Engineering


Preferred Education

  • 4 year degree in Food Safety, Public Health, or Environmental Health
  • Advanced degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Food Safety, Public Health, or Environmental Health
