As the Director of Food Safety, Microbiology &
Sanitation you will…
- Own,
lead, and support KIND business as the subject matter expert on Food
Safety, Microbiology and Sanitation (both Internal Sites and External
Manufacturers). Specifically provide technical support and leadership in
the following areas: Sanitation, Hygienic Design, Environmental
Monitoring, Specifications, HACCP Validations, Material Risk
Assessments, Microbiological testing of ingredients and finished
products.
- Provide
Strategic leadership on Food Safety and Brand Protection for the Global
business.
- Ensure
resources and capabilities are in place and adapted to the present and
future needs of a global Health & Wellness platform (KIND global
business)
- Lead
the establishment of business processes and tools to ensure KIND Global
is the industry lead in Food Safety
- Be
the Incident Owner for Food Safety-related Incidents and Recalls. Ensure
compliance to MARS Product Incident Management process (PRIMP) and
regulatory agencies (FDA, CFIA and EFSA).
- Ensure
KIND products and processes meet MARS Global Food Safety & Microbiological
requirements. Be the Food Safety leader for product Innovation &
Renovation initiatives. Provide close-to-the-business technical
expertise to support KIND’s growth strategic plan.
- Primary
contact at KIND for MARS Global Food Safety, Micro and Sanitation
functions.
- Effectively
communicate and liaise with suppliers and plants (co-man and internal
plants) quality teams to problem solve, trouble shoot, and resolve food
safety issues. This includes education and technical information sharing
to continually increase overall knowledge of plant personnel.
- Evaluate
and provide guidance on proper plant design of food plants to meet
world-class RTE standards. Works closely with Manufacturing on the
design of the manufacturing network on Hygienic Design, Plant Lay-out as
well as Cleaning and Sanitation practices
- Conduct
and document data-based risk assessments using technical, scientific,
regulatory, and industry inputs. This include active review,
interpretation, and communication of recommendations for food safety
assessments or investigations.
- Interpret
sensitive food safety related technical information and provide
objective science-based recommendations
- Provide
scientific expertise and technical leadership to ensure regulatory
compliance, support KIND’s growth strategic plan, and drive continuous
improvement initiatives.
- Identify,
develop, train, and support execution of food safety programs, controls,
processes, and MARS standards and procedures in alignment with industry
best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain
abreast of current and evolving food safety considerations and best
practices.
Required Experience:

You have…
- Bachelor’s degree required in Food
Microbiology, Food Science, or related subjects. PhD in related subjects
is preferred.
- 15+ years of proven experience in CPG
preferably in roles in Food Microbiology, Food Safety, Microbiology,
Sanitation & Hygienic Design.
- Experience with working in a corporate
environment as well as manufacturing and distribution location
environments.
- Ability to effectively resolve complex
problems
- Skill at influencing through strong
relationships and expertise
