Catering Operations
The Catering Operations department develops and provides the
great dining experiences on board our aircraft and ensuring the catering
operation goes smoothly.
Job overview and responsibilities
The Food Safety Coordinator monitors and enforces compliance of the
site-specific food safety plan to ensure compliance with applicable
regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, CBP and DOD). This position is to ensure
food is received, stored, handled, and shipped following regulatory
requirements and United standards. This role is responsible for completion of
tasks based on their training and ensuring compliance with all food safety
policies and requirements at all times.
- Conduct daily kitchen walk-thru
assessments and report any food safety and quality discrepancies
- Perform pre-operation inspections and
validate cleaning doing ATP swabbing
- Create, review and update food safety
documents as needed to ensure that they reflect current practice
- Collect environmental monitoring swabs
and other microbiological samples for testing as required
- Prepare and send samples for external
laboratory analyses
- Verify food safety logs on each shift for
accuracy, and document deviations in the food safety log deviation
report. Issue corrections and corrective actions as appropriate
- Enforce good manufacturing practices and
all food safety programs
- Monitor activities conducted by front line
activities e.g. knife sanitation, equipment sanitation, produce
disinfection etc.
- Report to management any conditions or
practices that might adversely impact food safety, food quality or
personnel safety
- Participate actively with Food Safety
Action Team to improve engagement of frontline employees
- Assist with training employees on current
good manufacturing practices and personal hygiene practices
Required
- HS Diploma
- Associates Degree in Business related
field, Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Entomology, or
related area - OR equivalent work experience
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification, HACCP Certification or SQF
Practitioner
- Knowledge of food microbiology, food
safety and food defense
- Knowledge of quality assurance
- Knowledge of food safety systems
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Attention to detail
- Basic math skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel
and PowerPoint
- Ability to create memos and e-mail
information in a professional way
- Planning and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal
skills
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Must clear a fingerprint-based criminal
history check
- Understand weights and measures (scales)
- Must be willing and able to travel
domestically
- Must be willing and able to work in cool
areas - 35 degrees F and less
- Must be willing and able to Walk and
stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift at least 55 lbs safely
- Must be legally authorized to work in the
United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview
required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an
essential function of the position
Preferred
- B.S. Degree - food safety, microbiology
or related discipline
- 2+ years in food processing with quality,
sanitation, or pest control experience
- Previous experience with SQF, ServSafe, IFSA, FSPCA, and FDA/USDA requirements
- Knowledge of environmental monitoring
- Knowledge of ATP testing
- Knowledge of allergen testing
- Knowledge of airline experience and
catering operation
- Bilingual English / Spanish is a plus
